We had some real laughs celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year. Elton John was in town.
He seriously was but that is, of course, not him. Bryant and I went out to celebrate a gorgeous St. Patrick’s Day parade with Jenny, Jeffrey, and Sam. It was so fun and we had a great time celebrating the Irish. And although our next stop was to be a birthday party down the road that we ended up having to miss due to Curtis’s unanticipated early arrival, we still had a great day.
I felt kind of bad that Curtis missed celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday but no worries, he still got some magical moments. A friend of mine organized a Leprechaun Treasure Hunt for him and some other tots the other day. Using this link here she created a shamrock “map” and they followed the colors of the rainbow and rhymes until they found the Leprechaun’s treasures. The kids loved it!
I will always love this holiday. Not only is it a celebration of a culture fairly close to my Scottish roots, it is also the day that John and I first met. But that wasn’t an “official” meeting since it took us being reintroduced some months later before we ended up dating – I still love that story. Living in DC, too, St. Patrick’s Day was always filled with extremely fun outdoor music festivals with my friends (and green Krispy Kreme doughnuts). While celebrations these years, being a mom, are quite different in style, they are still so much fun and I look forward to this day.
